Before Your First Online Weight-Management Consultation
A useful first appointment should help you understand whether treatment is appropriate, what the proposed care involves, and how questions will be handled afterward. You do not need to arrive committed to a particular medication. Bring questions and accurate information so the clinician can assess your situation.
Prepare your information privately
Make a current list of medications and supplements, relevant medical history, allergies, previous weight-management approaches, and questions about your goals. Share this through the clinician’s secure intake process. The program cost worksheet is not a medical intake form and should not contain those details.
Questions to bring
- What options are appropriate for me, and why? Ask the clinician to explain the proposed approach, alternatives, expected benefits, and limitations in your circumstances.
- What exact medication is being proposed? Ask for its name, formulation, and whether the product is FDA-approved or compounded. Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved; do not assume a compounded product is an approved generic equivalent. FDA guidance on unapproved GLP-1 drugs
- What risks and follow-up should I understand? Ask about your medication list and history, what symptoms require urgent care, and whom to contact with routine concerns. Obtain instructions from your clinician rather than changing treatment based on an article.
- Which pharmacy will dispense it? Request the pharmacy’s name and location. FDA recommends checking that an online pharmacy requires a prescription, has a US physical address, holds the relevant state pharmacy licenses, and provides access to a licensed pharmacist. A polished website alone does not establish these facts. FDA BeSafeRx checklist
- What does ongoing support include? Ask how follow-up visits and messages work, who answers them, and what arrangements apply when the service is closed.
- What will I owe if the plan changes? Ask about charges if medication is not prescribed, becomes unavailable, or is discontinued by the clinician. Get billing and cancellation terms in writing.
- How should nutrition and activity fit my circumstances? Discuss limitations, preferences, and practical goals. This site’s name is not a promise that a medication replaces activity or that weight loss is guaranteed.
Leave with a clear next step
Before the appointment ends, confirm who will contact you, where any prescription will be sent, when follow-up is expected, and how to ask another question. If a cost or treatment detail remains unresolved, write it down as unresolved. You can gather information without treating a marketing offer as a clinical decision.
